And today at Sparkles and Lightning, I have a very special guest! Letty Larkspur herself is here with a very special post on How to Meet Your Idols. It seems like she's probably one of the best people to write about such a subject—after all, she's met her idols, the lucky girl (pun intended)!
Recently I experienced one of the great thrills of my life: I was asked to come live with the movie stars Valentine O’Dell and Sophia Ray and to be mentored by them! Surely you have heard of the team of O’Dell and Ray and know how famous they are and what wonderful pictures they make, how dreamy Valentine is playing any role, be it as a knight or a hobo, and what a glamorous figure Sophia is at his side, both on screen and in real life. I myself first got to know them at the little theater in Defiance, Ohio—one town over from Union, where I was born—where I never missed any of their pictures, and if I could, returned to view them a second or even a third time. Why was I so lucky, little old Letty from a small, dusty, faraway place? I’m not sure, exactly, except that I’ve been dreaming for a big break of this kind for a long time, dreaming as hard as I could, and when I saw my chance to get on stage and do something bold I took it, and it just so happened that I was rewarded and someone on high saw to it that Valentine O’Dell himself was in the crowd to watch me sing. Everything happened easily after that—except that it is never easy getting close to people you’ve idolized for a long time at a distance. Oh, it is exciting, for sure, and there is so much to be learned, like how to walk across a room to maximum dramatic effect, how best to say a line or offer your profile to the camera. But movie stars are larger than life, which means that sometimes in their presence, if you are not very steady or forget who you are or where you come from, the ground can shift under you and you may find yourself lost.

She sure knows a lot about this, doesn't she? Letty has a lot ahead of her this summer in THE LUCKY ONES. Do yourself a favor and pick up this thrilling book today!

And don't forget…

Gossip is timeless.
