So, I'm sure you all know about Kristi Diehm, better known as the Story Siren, being accused of plagiarism.
And so many people have talked about it, and it hasn't been let go, and I know you all really don't want to hear this again. So, if you don't want to hear it, don't read this post. It's that simple.
But recently I received an email that went sort of like this: Apparently someone noticed that I have removed the Story Siren button from my blogroll. And how dare I remove Kristi's button when she's such a dedicated blogger, and, really, what on Earth was I thinking?
I swear, someone actually had the guts to send me that. I mean, really?
So, yeah, I'm kind of annoyed. And upset. And, actually, why mince words? I am totally and completely ticked off. And I'm going to clarify my decision.
I did not come to this decision lightly. I have admired Kristi's blog since long before I even began blogging myself. She was always so nice and her reviews well beautifully written. That's why I was shocked and upset when the story broke.
It's not even the plagiarism itself that really bothers me. (Though of course, I do not condone her plagiarism.) It was how badly she handled things afterward, leaving two half-assed non-apologies that meant nothing.
Then after these non-apologies were issued, she basically moved on.
I am not okay with that. If you make a mistake, own it and apologize. Kristi showed no remorse for what she'd done. And if you don't make a mistake and are falsely accused, for goodness' sake don't act guilty.
So, yeah, I've removed Kristi from my blogroll. I've also unfollowed her on other social networking sites, including Twitter. After her actions, I personally feel that I can no longer support her or her blog. And even though I have never participated in In My Mailbox, the meme she runs, I was considering it but now am turning to other options.
What you choose to do is your choice. But that is mine, and I am sticking to it. Respect it.
Lovelovelove,
