*****FINAL RATING: 5.00 STARS*****
CATCHALL
I put off reading this series for forever, and I now regret that. Thank goodness for my friends, who slapped a copy of The Iron King into my hand and demanded I read it. It was amazing, and I quickly rushed through the entire series. While I loved each and every one of the books, this one was definitely my favorite.
THE HERO
ASHALLYN'DARKMYR TALLYN
Ash had me at hello. Seriously, he is ridiculously hot. In this book, we get to see even more of him than in previous books. After all, this is his book. He grows beautifully as a character and is fleshed out like never before. He becomes more than he was. His transformation is slow, but easy to follow. A new side of him is shown and his determination is so strong and beautiful. He was absolutely amazing and I fell for him even more. He's beyond gorgeous and he becomes so wonderful.
THE BEST FRIEND TURNED ARCHENEMY TURNED...?
ROBIN GOODFELLOW
I actually came to love Puck in this book too, although Ash will always be first and I didn't even really like Puck in the previous books, so. But in this book, the fact that he was willing to help Ash to assure Meghan's happiness shows just how much he loves her. It's absolutely, heartbreakingly beautiful. Puck is actually nicer in this book, and his sense of humor still brings a smile to my face.
THE PLOT
I love Ash's story. It's probably my favorite of the whole series.
I mean, a quest to be with true love? My romantic-to-a-fault heart finds that devastatingly romantic.
So, yeah, I loved this book. The plot was, I swear, made for me.
The story is interesting, there are some major unexpected twists, and some things I could see coming and some things I would never have imagined.
I couldn't put this book down. I literally read it until 6:30 in the morning, knowing I would have to get up half an hour later for Mass. But I didn't even care, because it was so freaking good.
I absolutely adored it. It was everything I could have hoped and dreamed for.
THE ROMANCE
Even though there's very little romance in this book, what romance there is is very sweet and a bit sad, but it works its way towards happiness. I loved everything about it, and the way everything smoothly works out. The romance is believable as always, and I love the true feelings that there are and the sense of belonging.
THE WRITING
Julie's writing is always beautiful, but Ash's voice was like freaking icing. It was amazing and wonderful and beautiful and I loved loved loved it. He has a way of speaking that's bold and sometimes amusing. He describes things so accurately, so that I could picture everything in my head perfectly. I felt what he felt and wanted what he wanted. It was perfect.
THE ENDING
I freaking love happily ever afters, and, oh, this one was so perfect. It made my heart ridiculously happy, but I loved it s much. Everything worked out completely perfectly and it was complete and total happiness. I thought everything was perfect, and it was the best ending this series could possibly have had.
WRAPUP
I loved Julie's Iron Fey series. I'll be buying The Iron Legends when it comes out to complete my Iron Fey collection, and I'll definitely be reading The Lost Prince and the entire Call of the Forgotten series. I also have a copy of The Immortal Rules that I need to read. I love Julie's writing, her worlds, and her stories. I am officially a fan for life.
FINE.
